CaRMS Match Results
Each year, the Canadian Resident Matching Service (CaRMS) matches candidates with training programs across Canada and releases their match results. These results are broken down by first and second iteration, along with a full summary analysis. The College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) is following with interest and would like to share the available CaRMS results for family medicine.

We are proud to welcome the 1,545 first iteration CaRMS matched candidates. They will join family medicine residents who are on track to become family physicians, providing high-quality, comprehensive care.
While we are happy to see another increase, there is still more work that needs to be done to ensure a sustainable profession for our future family physicians. The College has continued to implement various initiatives to promote the value of family medicine, encourage medical students to choose this rewarding career, and enhance the sustainability of the profession. We call on all levels of government to prioritize investment in family medicine. We, and our members, recognize family physicians’ valued role in the Canadian health care system and have proposed solutions for sustainability:- Fair remuneration that recognizes the unique expertise of family doctors and the complexity of family medicine
- Decreased administrative burden
- Support of a team-based approach to our health care system, as per the Patient’s Medical Home vision, with family doctors providing medical leadership
The responsibility rests with governments to act.
