The CFPC supports family doctors in providing high-quality, evidence-based, gender-affirming care to patients in close consultation with their families. Family doctors are the experts in providing comprehensive primary care to their patients.

High quality gender-affirming primary care improves the long-term health outcomes of transgender and gender diverse people. These populations face considerable discrimination and transphobia. We must reduce the barriers for these communities in accessing essential care, whether gender-focused or otherwise within the responsible current framework established across Canada. Our offices must be safe and inclusive spaces for all transgender and gender diverse youth, adults, and their families.

The CFPC is committed to ensuring that all family physicians are unhindered in their support of patients of all gender identities.
