The CFPC shares in the grief caused by the tragic discovery at a former residential school

2021-06-01

The College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) shares in the grief and shock caused by the recent discovery of the remains of 215 children at the site of the former residential school in Kamloops, British Columbia. It is a tragic reminder of the systemic abuses and injustices against Indigenous people. This appalling discovery reflects a dark period in our country’s history and is an urgent call to all of us to address the systemic racism that continues today.

The CFPC denounces all forms of racism and discrimination and is committed to supporting Turtle Island’s Indigenous communities through family medicine.

We offer our sincere condolences and stand in support of Indigenous communities.
