American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP)

The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) is the accrediting body for family medicine continuing medical education (CME) / continuing professional development (CPD) in the United States of America.

About Our Reciprocal Credit Agreement

  • CFPC members who complete any  CME/CPD program accredited by the AAFP for Prescribed credit can claim the equivalent number of Certified Mainpro+ credits
  • CFPC members who complete any CME/CPD program accredited by the AAFP for Elective credit can claim the equivalent number of Non-Certified Mainpro+ credits

Special circumstances (AAFP and American Board of Family Medicine [ABFM] programs)

  • ABFM Self-Assessment Modules (SAMs) are approved for 10 Certified credits per module
  • ABFM Methods in Medicine Modules (MIMMs) are approved for 10 Certified credits per module
  • AAFP METRIC Program is approved for 30 Certified credits
  • ABFM Performance in Practice Module (PPM) is approved for 25 Certified credits
  • ABFM Certification/Recertification Examination is approved for 50 Certified credits
