American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP)

The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) is the accrediting body for family medicine continuing medical education (CME) / continuing professional development (CPD) in the United States of America.

About our reciprocal credit agreement

  • CFPC members who complete any live CME/CPD program accredited by the AAFP for Prescribed credit can claim the equivalent number of Mainpro-M1 credits.
  • CFPC members who complete any CME/CPD program accredited by the AAFP for Elective credit can claim the equivalent number of Mainpro-M2 credits.

Special circumstances (AAFP and ABFM programs)

  • ABFM Self-Assessment Modules (SAMs) are approved for five Mainpro-C credits per module
  • ABFM Methods in Medicine Modules (MIMMs) are approved for five Mainpro-C credits per module
  • AAFP METRIC Program is approved for five Mainpro-C and 20 Mainpro-M1 credits
  • ABFM Performance in Practice Module (PPM) is approved for five Mainpro-C and 20 Mainpro-M1 credits
  • ABFM Certification/Recertification Examination is approved for 25 Mainpro-C credits (submit Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine Examination submission form and copy of certificate or letter indicating exam completion)
