Conferences, courses and workshops | Mainpro-C accredited conferences, courses and workshops tailor content and activities to meet individual participant needs (via pre-program needs assessments). Accredited programs will include small-group discussions and activities, with an emphasis on hands-on, interactive learning opportunities. An activity or exercise, to be completed weeks or months after the programs has been held, is included in the curriculum to stimulate reflective learning. - To claim your credits, submit a copy of your proof of participation to the CFPC.
- Proof of participation must include a statement indicating that the program is Mainpro-C accredited.

Independent & practice-based small group learning (PBIL/PBSG) | The Foundation for Medical Practice Education (FMPE) is a Canadian non-profit organization dedicated to the development, production, and evaluation of educational programs for community-based family medicine and general practitioners. Their PBIL and PBSG programs are Mainpro-C accredited. Learn more about the FMPE . - CFPC members enrolled in PBSG (small group) are eligible to claim one Mainpro-C credit per hour of participation.
- CFPC members enrolled in PBIL (individual) are eligible to claim two Mainpro-C credits per module upon completion the associated two-part commitment to change form.
- To claim your credits, submit a copy of the certificate issued by the FMPE or enroll with the FMPE to have your credits automatically uploaded.

Organized clinical traineeships and fellowships* | Clinical traineeships and fellowships are planned learning experiences that enhance or introduce new knowledge and skills. To be eligible for Mainpro-C credit, the traineeship/fellowship must be a minimum of five days in duration. Traineeships and fellowships may be developed for groups or individual physicians. |

| Family medicine and emergency medicine examinations | Complete one of the following large-scale family medicine or emergency medicine examinations* and be eligible to claim Mainpro-C credits: - The CFPC Examination of Special Competence in Emergency Medicine
(Note: Only practice eligible candidates may claim credit for this activity) - The American Board of Family Practice (ABFP) Certification OR Recertification Examination
- The American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) Certification Examination
Earn 25 Mainpro-C credits for each completed examination. - Proof of participation must be submitted along with a completed Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine Examinations form.
*Other examinations will be considered on an individual basis. The CFPC Certification Examination in Family Medicine is not eligible for Mainpro-C credit. |
Linking Learning to Practice
| Linking Learning to Practice allows you to earn Mainpro-C credit for a variety of activities, including: - Conducting a research project on a topic relevant to family medicine
- Developing educational materials and/or clinical practice guidelines
- Committee work that involves the review of family medicine content
- Academic activities including planning and conducting teaching activities
- Participating in educational program accreditation survey visits
- Being an examiner for a family medicine or emergency medicine examination
- And many more
These activities are treated as stimuli for the generation of practice-related questions and answers. The Linking Learning to Practice form guides you through an inquiry and decision-making process, and then facilitates the reflective process necessary for earning Mainpro-C credit. |

| Practice Audits and Quality Assurance Programs | This is in addition to the Mainpro-M1 credits claimed for participation in practice audits or other quality assurance programs (both for individual or group-based audits). If the assessment and feedback is comprehensive, multiple forms may be submitted if each is based on a distinctly different question. |
| Provincial Practice Review and Enhancement Programs | Several provinces and regions conduct organized medical practice review programs. These are often sponsored by the provincial licensing authorities and conducted by the licensing authority, a medical association or a university. If the assessment and feedback is comprehensive, multiple forms may be submitted if each is based on a distinctly different question. |
