The College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) currently conducts the Certification Examination in Family Medicine twice a year, in the spring and in the fall. This examination is available in both official languages in multiple centres across Canada.
The CFPC also conducts the Examination of Special Competence in Emergency Medicine. This examination is available in both official languages and candidates can choose to sit part or all of the examination in either English or French. At present there is only one examination centre (Toronto) for all candidates.
Due to the significant expenses generated in the eight weeks prior to the exam, examination fee refunds will depend on the date of receipt of a written, signed withdrawal/refund request:
- Candidates who withdraw from the examination 60 days before the examination will be subject to a penalty of $500.
- Candidates who withdraw within 30-60 days of the examination will be subject to a penalty of one half of the examination fee.
- Candidates who withdraw 30 days or less before the examination will not receive a refund.
Candidates must withdraw and re-apply should they wish to take the examination at a later date. Fees paid for a previous attempt are not transferable to a later session.
